Painting Competition and One-Day Art Workshop“Viksit Bharat Ke Rang Kala Ke Sang”

The Painting Competition and One-Day Art Workshop under the theme “SEWA – PARV: Viksit
Bharat Ke Rang Kala Ke Sang” was successfully held on 30th September 2025 at the Stone
Sculpture Garden, NEZCC, Dimapur. The event was jointly organised by the North East Zone
Cultural Centre (NEZCC), Dimapur, Ministry of Culture, Government of India, in collaboration
with the Department of Art & Culture, Government of Nagaland. The initiative aimed to promote
artistic expression, creativity, and cultural enrichment while aligning with the vision of a developed
India by 2047 (Viksit Bharat@2047). The event witnessed overwhelming participation with over
300 participants from various districts of Nagaland. The competition was divided into three
categories – Professional, College, and School – giving artists at different levels an opportunity to
showcase their talents. Art supplies such as A3 and A4 sheets and poster colours were provided to
college and school students, while professionals were encouraged to bring their own materials.
Participants were offered refreshments throughout the event, ensuring a comfortable and enjoyable
atmosphere. The day began with registration and a welcome session at 11:00 AM, followed by an
inaugural ceremony featuring an opening address by Shri Teisovikuolie Therie, Deputy Director of
Art & Culture, Nagaland, and a keynote speech by Shri Zasevizo Lhousa, Deputy Director,
NEZCC. The main painting competition took place from 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM, during which
participants painted their interpretation of the theme while judges observed and interacted with
them. The judging and evaluation were carried out from 3:00 PM to 3:30 PM, followed by the
closing ceremony from 3:30 PM to 4:30 PM. The closing ceremony was graced by Shri K. Therie,
Former Minister of Nagaland, as the Guest of Honour. Winners and special recognitions were
announced, and the event concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Shri R. Kughato, R.O.,
NEZCC, followed by a group photo session with all participants and organisers. A distinguished
panel of qualified and experienced artists and professors evaluated the artworks across all three
categories, ensuring a fair and transparent judging process. Participants praised the event for its
excellent organisation and engaging theme, noting that it provided an enriching platform for creative
expression and cultural appreciation. The workshop fostered interaction among artists, educators,
and young learners, building a sense of unity and community through art. The organisers
encourage continued support for art-related initiatives that promote cultural enrichment and
creativity. Future recommendations include expanding the scope of such programmes to include
inter-state participation, creating exhibitions or digital galleries to showcase participant artwork, and
fostering partnerships between educational and cultural institutions. In conclusion, the Painting
Competition and One-Day Art Workshop proved to be a resounding success, achieving its goal of
nurturing creativity, promoting cultural heritage, and inspiring the vision of Viksit Bharat@2047.
