Special Programme on the Theme: “Include, Involve, Inspire”

The Department of Teacher Education, Unity College, organized a special programme on 15th July 2026 at 1:30 PM in the Seminar Hall under the theme “Include, Involve, Inspire.”

The programme began with an invocation by Muwapila T, of 3rd Semester, followed by the welcome address delivered by Dr. Akala Longkumer, Vice Principal and Head of the Department of Teacher Education. The programme was chaired by Ms. Anita Debnath, and a special song titled “Lean on Me” was presented by Ms. Lea T. Awomi.

The resource person for the programme was Mrs. Inatoli V. Zhimo, Graduate Teacher (English), Government High School, Toluyi. She delivered an inspiring and informative session on the importance of inclusive education. She shared practical strategies for teachers on how to interact with and support children with disabilities in the classroom. She emphasized that every child deserves equal opportunities, respect, patience, and encouragement.

Mrs. Zhimo also highlighted the responsibilities of both teachers and parents in creating a supportive and inclusive environment for children with disabilities. Drawing from her personal experience as the mother of a child with an intellectual disability, she shared the challenges, emotions, and valuable lessons she has learned. Her heartfelt experiences deeply touched the audience and helped everyone understand the importance of empathy, acceptance, and inclusive teaching practices.

The session was highly interactive, and the participants gained meaningful insights into handling children with disabilities with care, compassion, and understanding. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Mr. Akumniksung Amer, expressing gratitude to the resource person, faculty members, and all participants for making the programme a great success.

Overall, the programme was highly informative, inspiring, and beneficial for the B.Ed. students, helping them develop a positive attitude towards inclusive education and preparing them to become responsible and compassionate future teachers.
