The Department of Teacher Education, Unity College, organised a Science and Mathematics Activity on 24th August 2026 at the Seminar Room of the college. The programme was organised by the faculty members and student teachers of Science and Mathematics Pedagogy with the objective of promoting scientific temper, mathematical thinking, creativity, curiosity, and active participation among student teachers through engaging and experiential activities. The theme of the programme was “The Science of Possibilities.”
The programme was moderated by Ms. Khumla, a student teacher of the 3rd Semester B.Ed.
The programme consisted of four major activities:
- Model Presentation – The student teachers presented two different science and mathematics-based models, demonstrating how abstract concepts can be represented and understood through practical and creative models.
- Magic Show – “See the Wonder, Know the Science” – An entertaining and educational magic show was organised to demonstrate the scientific principles behind seemingly magical phenomena.
- Guessing Activity – In this activity, participants picked chits containing different words and enacted the words without directly revealing them. The audience then attempted to guess the word being enacted.
- Quiz – A quiz was conducted to test and strengthen the participants’ knowledge of science and mathematics.
As part of the programme, a reel created by the student teachers who had secured the first prize in the Reel Making Activity organised during their previous semester was also screened. The screening provided an opportunity to recognise and appreciate the creativity and achievement of the student teachers.
The programme concluded with the vote of thanks delivered by Mr. Rongkhambirth D. Shira, a student teacher of the 3rd Semester B.Ed. Finally, the programme concluded with a group photograph with Dr. Akala Longkumer, Vice Principal and Head of the Department, faculty members of the Department of Teacher Education, and the student teachers of Science and Mathematics Pedagogy.
