On October 31, 2025, the Red Ribbon Club and Community Engagement Cell of Unity College of
Teacher Education (UCTE) in accordance to NCTE norms as informed by Central Vigilance
Commission organized an impactful program on Vigilance Awareness Week at the college seminar
hall under the theme “Our Shared Responsibility”. The session was hosted by Shikna M from 3rd
semester, who guided the proceedings with grace and enthusiasm. It began with a prayer by Vinivi
Achumi 3rd semester, invoking God’s presence, followed by a warm welcome address from Dr. Akala
Longkumer, Principal of UCTE, Dimapur. A special song was presented by C Baumai and Thondinaro of
1st semester which added a heartfelt touch to the event.
The key highlight of the event was the insightful talk delivered by the resource person, Y. Ruth
Muru, NPS DCP (HQ), Dimapur, who spoke on vigilance, integrity, and ethical values. She highlighted
on the crucial role of teachers in fostering integrity by nurturing students, who embody
transparency, accountability, critical thinking, creativity, effective communication and self awareness
as responsible contributors to society.
It was followed by a pledge led by Tajenyula Longchar of 3rd semester student reaffirming the
commitment to uphold integrity and ethical values. The event concluded with a word of gratitude
from Ms. Meliteu Chirhah, Asst. Professor, UCTE, bringing the meaningful session to a close.
