Report on Celebrating Differences

On 6th July, 2024, Unity college of Teacher Education in collaboration with Prodigal Home Dimapur hosted a poignant event titled “Celebrating Differences” at the college premise seminar hall, to inculcate awareness of inclusive education for the B.Ed students aligning with course 10: Creating an inclusive school. The program was chaired by B.Ed 3rd semester Akaholi kiba, followed by a short prayer of invocation by Asst. Professor, Neikerheno secu, UCTE. The program was beautifully addressed with a welcome note from Principal ma’am Dr. Akhala Longkumer UCTE along with gifting of some amount and gifts collected from the students as part of donation drive for the Prodigal Home. The spectacular performance of two visually impaired but with a voice of melody was a spectacular sight, along with a heartfelt poem read by one of our beautiful sister from Prodigals Home followed by a session of brief orientation on how the Prodigal Home started and the activities conducted to include more number of people with disability from one of the caretakers in Prodigals Home.

The resource person for the program was Ms Lozua Kape, Child Welfare Committee, Dimapur, who highlighted the importance of inclusive practices in education, and thereby urging the students to accept the disability as it is, with a sense of considering them as they are. The program was closed with a vote of thanks from Dr. Khrishnarati, followed by photo session and a luncheon in the conference room with our special guest from Prodigals Home.
