On the 21st of September, 2024, the Student Teachers of UCTE actively participated in a seminar and workshop titled “Children for Swachh and Swachh Dimapur”, held under the banner of Swachhata Hi Seva 2024. The event was meticulously organized by the Dimapur Municipal Council, in partnership with the Nagaland Pollution Control Board and the Green Campus Committee of Dimapur Government College. The program took place at Dimapur Government College Campus.
The seminar commenced promptly at 9:30 AM with an opening address delivered by the faculty of Dimapur Government College. The program was engaging in creating a lot of awareness about the critical issues of waste disposal emphasising its impact on the environment and the proactive steps an individuals and institutions can take to manage waste more effectively. Presentations were also made on the current pollution levels of Dimapur and highlighted monitoring on regular basis. It emphasised the negative impact of pollution on health and the environment, encouraging participants to take proactive steps like reducing vehicle use, avoiding open burning, and supporting environmental initiatives. The workshop encouraged everyone to contribute to a clean and green Dimapur for a healthier future.
