UCTE celebrated its 13th Fresher’s Day Cum Felicitation on September 7, 2024, with the theme “Transcend.”

Fresher’s day cum Felicitation is an annual event held at UCTE to welcome new students and help them acclimate to B.Ed life, and also to felicitate the NU toppers. The primary objectives of Fresher’s Day were to encourage conversation between seniors and freshers, and make them feel comfortable and welcomed. The event was divided into two sessions, formal and informal session, and featured several engaging activities. The formal session was hosted by Mushim from B.Ed third semester, with invocation by Dr. Aton Mungleng, Assistant Professor, UCTE. Welcome speech was addressed by Dr. Akala Longkumer, Principal UCTE, and a special number ‘Love catches me by surprise’ was sung by B.Ed third semester (Section B). Speech on behalf of the seniors was addressed by Moitreyi Bhattacharjee, and Wangshe A Konyak on behalf of the freshers. Nagaland University UCTE B.Ed topper 2024, Miss. Oshin Ghatri, was felicitated for securing Top 17th, and there after speech from the special guest Dr. C Teeya Imsong, Managing Director, Mount Mary Group of Institution, Chümoukedima, was delivered. Tsentsuthung E Tungoe from B.Ed third semester played a piano piece, and the formal session concluded with a speech from Meningwangbo Newmai from B.Ed third semester. Following the formal session, a light refreshment was provided.

The informal session commenced with Abigail and E. Zuben Shitiri as the host. The informal session featured a number of dance routine, group songs, and two rounds of Mr. and Miss Fresher, where Mr. Sehochem Sangtam and Miss. Bensuliu N Chawang were crowned as Mr and Miss Fresher of UCTE, 2024. A substantial dinner prepared by the seniors marked the end of the program. Fresher’s Day cum Felicitation 2024 was a huge success, accomplishing its goals of encouraging student participation and community building. Occasions such as these are essential to fostering a supportive campus community.
